Topic of the thesis: Cultural intermediaries in India
Abstract: My research focuses on cultural intermediaries in India. Cultural intermediaries are actors who make links between local communities and institutional support in order to represent their culture in society. Cultural intermediation involves interacting with various interlocutors, but also translating cultural artifacts, traditions, languages, norms, and symbols between different social entities, communities, and audiences. By considering the profile of intermediaries, their discourses, practices, and the institutional setting in which they act, the aim of my thesis is to develop a comprehensive approach to cultural intermediation by considering its components, efficiency, and challenges.
